Silver Lake Reservoir Path and Meadow
What began as a collaborative pro bono effort has become a symbol of the LA River’s potential transformation. The vision is to recalibrate an existing rail facility into a mixed-use development surrounding 80 acres of park land and habitat where the LA River can flood during storm events. The design features a bio-engineered approach to hydrology with a 15-acre constructed wetland, a daylit stormwater culvert, and a series of biotreatment pools to clean urban runoff before it enters the river. New housing, services, and better pedestrian and bicycle connections to USC Health Sciences campus and the Brewery Arts Colony as well as across the river will mend Boyle Heights’ place in the fabric of Downtown Los Angeles.
