In collaboration with Fredrick Fisher Partners, ML+A is the landscape architect for a public beach club at the historic Marion Davies and William Randolph Hearst estate. The 415 beach club site has been designed to serve the needs of a wide range of visitors. Sustainable strategies have been employed to reduce ambient heat, light pollution, energy use and potable water use. The facility includes outdoor areas for dining, small gatherings, meetings, pool related recreation, children’s play, structured active recreation and typical beach activities. Art and interpretive features have been integrated into the public areas to enrich the visitor experience of the historic gold coast of Santa Monica, the beach and the glamour of the site.
