The design of this large urban high school campus landscape is composed of courtyards, a promenade, multi-purpose athletic fields and perimeter plantings. The main east-west axis across the campus connects the main courtyard to the athletic fields. This promenade is paved with multi-colored accents within a field of concrete paving. A formal tree allee creates a soft edge along the fenced basketball courts with shaded seating.

Three courtyards provide outdoor seating and gathering areas for the campus. The main courtyard is paved with cast in place concrete with a decorative pattern of precast unit pavers. The large courtyard is planted with flowering evergreen trees on the edges to provide shade while allowing for maximum use of the space for seating or other functions. The cafeteria courtyard utilizes similar decorative paving materials. A smaller third courtyard is planted as a grove of flowering Robinia trees to provide a shaded seating area.

Two multi-purpose athletic fields are located on the west side of the site. Both fields are planted with Bermuda hybrid turf grass to withstand intensive use. Large radius rotor head irrigation systems are used on the fields. Turfed berms between the north field and the basketball courts provide informal spectator areas and break up the large flat spaces.
